Blanche Crane Residence - Oceanside, CA, USA

This Mediterranean Revival style house was the residence of local teacher Blanche Crane.  It was built in 1929.

Located at 1001 Washington Avenue, on the southeast corner of Washington Avenue and South Horne Street.

El Real Hotel - Fallbrook, CA, USA

Built in 1930, this brick building in downtown Fallbrook was originally the El Real Hotel.  It has housed several businesses since the old hotel closed including a restaurant, The Packing House.  It is presently occupied by JJ Landers Irish Pub.

The wood trim above the window is not original to the building.

Located at 125 South Main Avenue.

Anderson Residence - Oceanside, CA, USA

This Craftsman style bungalow was built in 1929.  It was the home of Albert O. "Andy" Anderson, a mail carrier, his wife Eleanor (Hunt) and their daughter Dorothy.

Located at 622 South Freeman Street in the Seaside neighborhood.

San Luis Rey Auto Salvage & Towing - Oceanside, CA, USA

Late on the night of Wednesday, October 5, 2011 much of the building housing San Luis Rey Auto Salvage & Towing was destroyed by fire.  Firefighters were able to save the office area where computers and files were located.  This longtime Oceanside business, family owned and operated since 1971, remains open and is operating out of an office trailer on the property.  The owners plan to rebuild.

Located at 475 North El Camino Real in the San Luis Rey Valley.

Addendum June 7, 2012:  The old building was demolished the last week of March 2012 to make way for reconstruction.

Bearfoot in the Park - Fallbrook, CA, USA

A part of Fallbrook Art in Public Places, Bearfoot in the Park is a 1996 bronze sculpture by artist Nancy Scott.

Located outside The Village Square at the southeast corner of Main Avenue and Alvarado Street.

Burnham Store/Temecula Mercantile - Temecula, CA, USA

Built in 1891.  George A. Burnham purchased the general store about 1902 from original owner Philip Pohlman.  Burnham family members continued to operate the store until 1953.  The fired brick building has housed several businesses since then, including The Temecula Mercantile which opened in 1969.  In the 1990s the City of Temecula purchased the building, retrofitting it to meet earthquake standards.  Since 2005 it has served as the entrance and ticket office for the Old Temecula Community Theater as well as an art gallery.

Located on First Street, west of Main Street.

Breakers Mural - Oceanside, CA, USA

This mural of breaking waves, painted by Aggy, covers the north wall of Pacific Coast Cycles.  Near the southern end of town, Pacific Coast Cycles is a bicycle sales, accessories, rental and repair business.

Located at 2003 South Coast Highway, on the southwest corner of South Coast Highway and Vista Way.

Rutherford Residence - Oceanside, CA, USA

This bungalow, built in 1928, is located in the Seaside neighborhood.



Located at 626 South Freeman Street.



Incense Cedar - Palomar Mountain, CA, USA

This large Incense Cedar, Calocedrus decurrens or Libocedrus decurrens, is estimated to be 400 years old.  The Incense Cedar is native to California and is common in the mountains of San Diego County.

This is another tree I remember fondly from childhood picnics and camping trips on Palomar Mountain.

Located near the entrance of the Silvercrest Picnic Area within Palomar Mountain State Park, which is presently on the closure list of California State Parks in July 2012 due to budget cuts.

Higher Standards - Vista, CA, USA

Higher Standards, a sculpture by Sergey Gornushkin, is a part of the fourth exhibit of Vista's public art display, Kites Over Vista.  It is on display in downtown Vista from 2011 to 2012.
